“There’s a part of all of us that longs to know that even what’s weakest about us is still redeemable and can ultimately count on something good.”

Fred Rogers

Welcome! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC-MHSP) and counselor educator in the Knoxville, Tennessee area. Born and raised in southeastern Virginia, I have spent most of my adult life in Tennessee, earning a master’s degree in Professional Counseling and a doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision.  I have worked in the counseling field since 2005, working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families in outpatient, intensive outpatient, intensive in-home, therapeutic foster care, and inpatient hospitalization care. Many of my clients have been affected by trauma, either through large events or the residue of smaller events that may block client development and potential. To help clients work through these blocks – blocks that may present as anxiety, depression, relational issues, or a myriad of other symptoms – I frequently utilize EMDR therapy and sandtray therapy. However, you are the expert during our time together, and during our time, I will use the therapeutic approaches that best fit your personality and goals. I have received extensive training to integrate Christian faith and counseling; I will incorporate these principles into our time together as much or as little as you want.

I am certified to facilitate both PREPARE/ENRICH and PREP with premarital and married couples, evidence-based programs that can strengthen and improve your relationship with your spouse. I am currently working with the Knoxville Marriage Initiative (KMI) to launch PREP trainings in Jefferson County, Tennessee. For additional information on local PREP trainings, please click here to go to KMI’s site.

I am also a NBCC Approved Clinical Supervisor who provides postgraduate supervision for those seeking licensure as a LPC or LPC-MHSP. More information about clinical supervision is available on the “Supervision” tab.
